African Studies Departments
Starting in the 1960s African Studies Departments have been created almost everywhere in the world. Though thanks to political and academic activism world wide, African studies curricula have become more and more innovative and transdisciplinary, it should not be forgotten that many area studies departments have been state created in order to better penetrate African markets. Also, scholarship have been granted in order to train and influence Africa's future elite.
