Kurzinhalt
„Quartier Mozart“ spielt über einen Zeitraum von 48 Stunden im gleichnamigen Arbeiterviertel von Yaounde, Kamerun. Erzählt wird die Geschichte eines Mädchens, das durch die hiesige Zauberin „Maman Thekla“ in den Körper eines jungen Mannes, „Montype“, schlüpft, um die tatsächlich stattfindende „sexuelle Politik“ des Viertels aufzudecken.
Maman Thekla verwandelt sich ebenfalls – und zwar in „Panka“, einen bekannten kamerunschen Comicheld, der die Kraft hat per Handschlag den Penis eines anderen Mannes verschwinden zu lassen. Montype wird in die männliche Hierarchie des Viertels eingeführt und lernt die diversen bunten Charaktere kennen, wie z.B. den Polizeichef „Mad Dog“, der eine Tradition ausnutzt um sich eine zweite Frau zu nehmen oder „Bon bon de jeunes filles“, dem Anführer der jungen Männer.
Mit viel Witz und einem interessanten „Musikvideo“-Stil schafft Bekolo eine Welt mitreißender Verspieltheit – ein Film im Jargon der „Quartiers“, geistreich, innovativ und provokant.

Regisseur
Jean-Pierre Bekolo wurde 1966 in Yaounde, Kamerun, geboren, studierte Physik in Yaounde und später Film in Frankreich. Er ist Autor, Regisseur, Produzent und Professor für Film an den US-Amerikanischen Universitäten Virginia Tech (1998), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2001) und Duke University (2003).
Seinem ersten preisgekrönten (s.u.) Spielfilm „Quartier Mozart“ folgten „Le complot d’Aristote“ (1996) und „Les Saignantes“ (2005).

La Fondation AfricAvenir organise un mois de cinéma africain du 22 février au 18 mars 2006 dans ses locaux à l’ancienne route de Bonabéri. L’ouverture solennelle aura lieu le mercredi 22 février à 15 Heures précises avec un mot introductif du Prince Kum’a Ndumbe III, homme de culture.

Am 23.02.2006 um 19 Uhr führt das afro-berliner Theaterensemble abok das Stück “Kinjeketile” in der Werkstatt der Kulturen auf. Der tanzanische Theaterautor Ebrahim Hussein hat mit diesem Stück dem Widerstand von 20 Völkern gegen die deutschen Kolonialherren ein Denkmal gesetzt. [abok]
