Im Rahmen des Festivals AfroBerlin lädt AfricAvenir am Donnerstag, den 26. April 2007 um 19:00 Uhr zur Filmvorführung von Mweze Nganguras mehrfach prämiertem Spielfilm Pièces d’identités (OmEnglU).

Kurzinhalt
Mani Kongo (Gérard Essomba), König der Bakongo in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, entscheidet sich, seine Tochter Mwana (Dominique Mesa) zu suchen, die er zur Schul- und Universitätsbildung nach Belgien geschickt hat und zu der er seit vielen Jahren keinen Kontakt hat. Aufgrund seiner positiven Erinnerung an seine erste Reise nach Belgien zu einer Kolonialausstellung – damals ist er überaus freundlich von den belgischen Regierenden empfangen worden – ist er voller Vorfreude. Als er jedoch am Brüsseler Flughafen ankommt, verlangen Zollbeamte von ihm Steuern für die Einfuhr von wertvollen Gütern – seiner königlichen Attribute. Und auch die Suche nach Mwana birgt so einige Überraschungen in sich…

Regisseur
Mweze Ngangura wurde 1950 in Congo geboren. Nach dem Studium am Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Brüssel unterrichtet er von 1976 bis 1985 am Institut National des Arts (INA) und an der Studio-Ecole de la voix du Zaïre (SEVOZA) in Kinshasa. Neben ‘Pièces d’identités’ hat Mweze Ngangura u.a. den Dokumentarfilm ‘Kin-Kiesse ou les Joies douces-amères de Kinshasa-la-Belle’ (1983) und den Musikspielfilm ‘La vie est belle’ (1987) gedreht. Zur Zeit lebt Mweze Ngangura in Brüssel. Er hat zuletzt den Spielfilm “Les habits neufs du gouverneur” gedreht, eine kongolesische musikalische Bearbeitung von Andersens berühmten Märchen “Des Kaisers neue Kleider”.

Synopsis
Mani Kongo (Gérard Essomba), King of the Bakongo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, decides to look for his daughter Mwana (Dominique Mesa) who he had sent to Belgium to be educated and with whom he has had no contact for many years. Mani Kongo is looking forward to his trip because when he first went to Belgium to visit a colonial exhibition, he was welcomed warmly by the Belgian Government. On his arrival this time however, customs officials at Brussels airport want him to pay a high import tax on the “valuable articles he is bringing into the country” – his royal attributes. Furthermore the search for Mwana holds several surprises…

Director
Mweze Ngangura was born in 1950 in Congo. After completing his studies at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Brussels, he taught at the Institut National des Arts (INA) and the Studio-Ecole de la voix du Zaïre (SEVOZA) in Kinshasa between 1976 and 1985. As well as ‘Pièces d’identités’, Mweze Ngangura shot the documentary ‘Kin-Kiesse ou les Joies douces-amères de Kinshasa-la-Belle’ (1983) and the music-feature film ‘La vie est belle’ (1987), among others. Mweze Ngangura currently lives in Brussels. He recently shot the feature film “Les habits neufs du gouverneur”, a Congolese musical adaptation of Andersen’s famous fairy tale “The Emperor’s new clothes”.

Résumé
Mani Kongo (Gérard Essomba), roi des bakongo en république démocratique du Congo prend la résolution d’aller chercher sa fille Mwana (Dominique Mesa) qu’il a envoyé étudier en Belgique il ya des années, et dont il n’a plus de nouvelles. Bercé par les souvenirs glorieux d’un premier séjour en Belgique où il fut accueilli par les souverains belges, Mani Kongo envisage avec plaisir et sérénité ce long parcours. Mais quand il arrive à l’aéroport de Bruxelles la douane belge il se retrouve obligé de payer des taxes d’importation pour les objets de valeur qu’il porte. De même, la recherche de sa fille tient prêt des surprises ultérieures…

Né au Congo en 1950, Mweze Ngangura étudie à l’Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) à Bruxelles. De 1976 à 1985, il enseigne à l’Institut National des Arts (INA) et au Studio-Ecole de la voix du Zaïre (Sevoza) à Kinshasa (Zaïre). Entre autres, il a réalisé le court métrage documentaire “Kin-Kiesse ou les Joies douces-amères de Kinshasa-la-Belle” (1983) et le long métrage “La vie est belle” qui est une comédie populaire très musicale (1987). A présent, Mweze Ngangura vit a Bruxelles. Il vient de réaliser un long métrage “les habits neufs du gouverneur”, adaptation musicale congolaise du celèbre conte d’Andersen “Les habits neufs de l’empereur”.
