Psychoanalysis, Colonialism and Decolonization (Hauptstudium)
Wintersemester 2006/2007
Ort und Zeit:
Di. 16-20 Uhr 14-tägig ab 24.10. Ihne 22 / UG 2
Seminarbeschreibung:
Speaking about Colonialism implies a critical analysis on the white sadistic fantasies of conquest and possession. It is a complex dialogue between aggression and sexuality, racial anxiety, envy and desire, concious and unconcious, Self and ‘Other.’ Decolonization, on the other hand, is a process in which one repairs the trauma of absolute Otherness, by becoming the Self. Such dialogue requires not only a psychoanalytical vocabulary but also a deep understanding of the psychic processes involved in racism. In this course you will be introduced to the basic concepts of psychoanalysis and will develope an overview on Psychoanalytic theory, colonialism and decolonization. Film will be used as basic material.
